Our birds have bloodlines going back to the pure Scandinavian birds we had a decade ago. Unfortunately these small, wild little birds laid few eggs and started late making them uneconomical. Eggs also cost, then, 90 pence each and did not hatch particularly well. We looked around and purchased some Chinese breeders from a quality UK game farm which has had a closed flock for decades. The Chinese are good egg producers and sporting flyers. The cross has kept the wildness without losing the manageability of them on a shoot day.
We can also source French ring necks and black necks from a reputable French game farm.
We do try to source our French partridge eggs from UK game farms but on the bigger weeks we have to import them.
